British Formula 4 in Silverstone: Carrie Schreiner among the TOP 10 again

Maybe it was the highlight of this year for the young formula 4 pilot Carrie Schreiner from the Saarland in Germany from 16th to 18th September. In the „British home of motorsport“, on one of the most traditional race tracks world-wide, the Formula 1 track of Silverstone, the English Formula 4 series hold its 9th event of the season. At the same time, it was the 4th and last guest start on the British island for the race girl form Völklingen, Germany.

Thus Carrie was already impressed when driving to the race track: „Nearly all top teams of the Formula 1 have their headquarters around Silverstone. That’s motorsport tradition pure!“

As it is almost always the case in England, there were changing weather conditions. At the two training sessions on Friday, it was wet in the morning and dry in the afternoon. At the qualifying on Saturday morning it was a bit wet again. Because of constant drizzling rain the track couldn't get dry. Although the ground was very slippery, Carrie could manage better and better in the qualifying and got qualified with only 0.9 seconds behind the pole setter for position 14 in the first race. This one took place then on a dry race track again. Unfortunately, Carrie didn't have a good start this time and first of all lost two places. But during the race she got faster and faster and reached P12. Towards the end she only had to let pass the Championship leader Max Fewtrell and achieved a solid 13th position.

From this place she started into the second heat on Sunday. Carrie presented a strong performance and fought with some of the top drivers there about positions. At the end of a very exciting race she finally was rewarded with another TOP 10 position. Furthermore, was her fastest lap only 4/10 seconds slower than the absolute top time of the race.

Thus in the afternoon Carrie was satisfied, but a bit wistful when driving to the airport in London: „Considering my four starts on the island, I was once among the TOP 5 and twice among the TOP 10. And that on tracks where I only had one test day before. That was okay! England is the motherland of motorsport and I enjoyed the atmosphere there. At all events there were 40.000 spectators at the race track on Sunday and when the weather was fine, there was a real festival atmosphere! I would like to say thank you to my team manager Anthony Hieatt, my driver coach, Jonathan Kennard, my data engineer Adrian Alvarez and the rest of the Double R Racing team for the very nice time.“

Carrie Schreiner’s last race of this season takes place at the first weekend in October in the ADAC Formula 4 on the Grand-Prix track in Hockenheim.
