ADAC GT Masters Red Bull Ring: Points and position three in the overall Junior classification for Carrie Schreiner

The fifth event of the ADAC GT Masters took place on the beautifully located Formula 1 circuit in Austria in very cold and changeable weather. In the free practice sessions Carrie Schreiner and teammate Dennis Marshall already had a very good pace.

While Carrie had to pay dearly in the first qualifying session in very difficult mixed conditions, on a half wet and half dry track, Dennis put the Audi R8 LMS of Rutronik Racing on position 5 in Qualy 2 on a completely dry track. The fact that 26 drivers finished within one second shows the enormous class of this series!

Unfortunately, he did not have a good start and was literally jammed on the inside. As a result, the 24-year-old lost many positions and after the second turn found himself only on position 14! As the Audi has a comparatively low top speed, it was very difficult to overtake on the high-speed track in Styria. At the pit stop Dennis handed the R8 LMS GT3 of Rutronik Racing over to the 22-year-old girl from Saarland after a relatively calm stint, lying on P12. Carrie came back on the track in the middle of a large crowd and as agreed, she let pass the sister car leading the championship. Afterwards she had a good pace, defended herself very clever and only had to let pass one of her competitors. In the end, she reached overall position 13.

Thus, Carrie Schreiner had mixed feelings after the race: "If you start from P5, you definitely want to stay in the TOP 10 at least. The start was very difficult and unlucky, they all got jammed on the inside. In addition, on the long uphill straightaway after turn 1, especially the BMWs could easily pass because of their much higher top speed! What's positive is that I was able to compete very well again in the front midfield in this bearishly strong league. Furthermore, we are now ranked third in the overall ranking in the highly competitive Junior classification for drivers up to 25 years of age. And this was exactly our declared goal for the season!
