FIA Formula E Rookie Test: Carrie Schreiner among the Top-Ten
On the 8th of November the first rookie test for women only took place on the former Formula 1 circuit in Jarama near Madrid as part of the Formula E World Championship. 19 women worldwide had been selected for this test and 18 of them took part. Carrie Schreiner was the only German driver who took on this challenge.
All female drivers had a maximum of 40 laps, divided into 4 stints, to prove their skills. Only one new set of tires was available. The brand new all-electric GEN3 Evo vehicles accelerate from 0 - 100 faster than the current Formula 1 cars and are anything but easy to drive!
The 26-year-old driver from the Saarland moved between positions 6 and 10 in all sessions and ultimately finished ahead of her very experienced teammate Tatiana Calderón on position 9.
Carrie's conclusion after this completely new experience: “We saved the new tires until the last stint. Unfortunately, there was a relatively long red flag right at the start, there was very little time left and there was a lot of traffic on the track. That's why I couldn't make the best use of the new tires. Otherwise, I might have been able to move up a few places. But even so, I am quite happy with my performance. Many thanks to Maserati MSG Racing for the trust they have placed in me. Now it's straight on to Doha/Qatar where another 3 days of F1 Academy testing are waiting.“
In Jarama, Carrie Schreiner has once again proved that she is now one of the best women in motorsport worldwide!
