6h Portimão: Solid start of the season for Carrie Schreiner under chaotic weather conditions

From 6 to 8 February 2026, the six-hour endurance race took place on the former Formula 1 circuit in Portimão, southern Portugal, as part of the GT Winter Series. For Carrie Schreiner, it was the start of a very long season with many races. Besides the 27-year-old from Saarland, her new team, Tresor Attempto Racing, selected former Porsche Carrera Super Cup frontrunner Ariel Levi and the fast and experienced Florian Scholze for the race.

Under chaotic weather conditions throughout the entire race, the trio finished in a respectable fifth place overall in both qualifying and the race. During the race, they were in second place at times, but then two time penalties threw the team far back. In the second half of the race, Schreiner, Scholze, and Levi caught up again with a strong pace and were back within reach of a podium position. After six hours, they were only a few seconds away from position four.

So, Carrie explained after the tough race: "Unfortunately, Florian and I got two time penalties, which probably cost us the podium! But you also have to admit that the teams ahead of us were very strong, so we have nothing to be ashamed of! The weather conditions were disastrous. The training sessions had to be constantly interrupted due to heavy rain, and at times it was impossible to drive!

After a break of almost four months, these were obviously not the ideal conditions for getting back into the rhythm! So, I have struggled in qualifying too. Things went much better in the race then, and I got into a good rhythm in the second stint. My pace got better and better, and I felt very comfortable in the car," said Carrie Schreiner.

The pit stop times were a little confusing. According to the regulations, each team had to spend a total of 35 minutes in the pits during the six hours. This meant that each team could plan differently, and for a long time it was impossible to see each single position.

This coming weekend, in Valencia, the driver from the Saarland will be able to start on a completely different level. “On the circuit in southern Spain, I want to fight for podium positions with my teammate Ariel Levi.”

Carrie immediately felt very comfortable in the new “Tresor Attempto Racing” team: “Arkin Aka's team did a flawless job throughout the weekend, and my Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II ran smoothly the whole time!”
